Policy Breakdown
“Faith without structure is a feeling. Structure without faith is a system. Together, they build a movement.”
Understanding the Rules That Shape Our World:
Policy can seem complicated, but it doesn’t have to be. The laws and decisions made in government affect everything from how schools are funded to how other countries receive aid. When we understand how policy works, we gain power to hold leaders accountable and shape the future ourselves.
The goal of this section is simple: to translate power into plain language. We take important policies, laws, and government debates and break them down so everyone can understand what’s really going on.
Most U.S. aid is approved through laws like the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961 and the Arms Export Control Act.These laws give the government power to send money, food, or weapons to other nations if it supports U.S. interests. Congress and the President both have roles: Congress approves the funding, and the President decides where it goes. Understanding U.S. aid helps us see the bigger picture of where national priorities and our tax dollars really go.
When Congress announces that a member has been censured, it often makes headlines but the public conversation usually stops at the shock factor. Few people fully understand what a censure actually is, why it matters, and how it fits into the broader landscape of congressional discipline.
